You know your production company can deliver great work. But here's the thing: sometimes the best opportunities aren't about competing with other agencies. They're about collaborating with them.
When WebsEdge, a full-service agency specializing in conference production and public sector storytelling, needed boots on the ground in West Texas, they didn't want to fly a crew in from out of state. They needed a local partner who could handle the shoot professionally, follow their creative direction, and deliver footage that matched their high standards.
That's where we came in.
The Project: Conference TV for Lubbock Police Department
WebsEdge was producing a "Conference TV" segment for the Lubbock Police Department: essentially a video presentation designed to showcase LPD's community-focused initiatives and innovative programs at a law enforcement conference. The goal? Show how the department is actively working to build trust, keep citizens safe, and leverage technology to serve the community better.

The scope was ambitious:
5 sit-down interviews, including the Chief of Police
Extensive B-roll covering multiple specialized units
Footage that needed to feel cinematic, not like standard police PR material
And the kicker: we captured the entire production—all 5 interviews and all the unit B-roll—in a single day
WebsEdge sent us the brief, the interview questions, and a loose shot list. From there, it was our job to execute locally: coordinate with the department, scout locations, capture the interviews, and film B-roll that would give the editors back at WebsEdge everything they needed to craft a compelling story.
And yes, the gear mattered. We showed up with professional cinema rigs (not DSLRs), clean audio, and lighting that holds up in real-world locations—so every frame comes back broadcast-ready and consistent with WebsEdge’s standards.
Why Public Sector Storytelling Matters
Law enforcement agencies face a unique challenge: they need to build trust with their communities while communicating complex initiatives and new technologies. A press release or text-heavy website doesn't cut it anymore. People want to see what you're doing, not just read about it.
Video does the heavy lifting here. When you can show Chief Seth Herman speaking directly to camera about community partnerships, or capture drone footage of officers rescuing a missing child, you're not just informing: you're connecting on an emotional level.
That's what made this project special. WebsEdge understood that quality production matters for public sector organizations. And they trusted us to deliver the kind of footage that would make LPD's story resonate.
The Shoot: Horses, Bikes, Drones, and the Depot District
One of the best parts of this project was the variety. We weren't just filming talking heads: we got to showcase the diverse ways LPD serves Lubbock.
Mounted Patrol Unit
There's something undeniably cinematic about officers on horseback. The Mounted Patrol Unit operates in areas where vehicles can't easily go, and they're a huge hit with the community: especially kids. We captured B-roll of the unit patrolling downtown, interacting with residents, and demonstrating their unique approach to community policing.

Depot District Night Operations
Lubbock's Depot District is the entertainment hub of the city: live music, bars, restaurants, and plenty of foot traffic on weekend nights. LPD's Depot Unit is dedicated to keeping people safe as they move between venues, cross streets, and enjoy the nightlife.
We filmed the unit at night, capturing the energy of the district while showing how officers proactively manage crowds and ensure everyone gets home safely. The nighttime footage added a visual texture to the story: neon signs, street lights, and officers on the ground doing the work.

Bicycle Unit
The Bicycle Unit provides another layer of accessibility. Officers on bikes can navigate crowded areas, parks, and events more easily than patrol cars. We filmed them moving through the city, demonstrating their agility and approachability.

Drone Operations and Real-World Impact
This was the highlight. LPD's Drone Unit uses advanced technology: including thermal imaging: to assist in search and rescue operations. During the interview, they shared a powerful story: using thermal drones to locate a missing autistic child and assist in finding a suicidal subject.
We captured footage of the drones in action, including thermal imaging displays. It's one thing to say "we use drones." It's another to show the technology at work and connect it to real lives saved.

The Agency-to-Agency Partnership Model
Here's what made this collaboration work: clear communication, trust, and defined roles.
WebsEdge handled the strategy, client relationship, and post-production. They knew the story they wanted to tell and provided us with the framework to execute it. We handled the logistics, cinematography, and on-the-ground production in Lubbock.
This model works because:
WebsEdge didn't have to fly a crew to Texas, saving time and budget
They got reliable local production, including knowledge of Lubbock's geography, the Depot District, and how to coordinate with LPD's busy schedule
They could trust the footage quality because we showed up with professional cinema rigs and delivered broadcast-ready material that matched their standards
We executed their vision without overstepping: this was their client, their story, and we respected that
For other agencies reading this: if you're producing content for clients outside your home base, you don't need to handle every shoot in-house. A reliable local production partner can extend your reach without compromising quality.

What We Learned About Public Sector Video Production
Working with government and law enforcement clients requires a specific approach:
Flexibility is key. Officers have unpredictable schedules. Emergencies happen. You need to be ready to adjust on the fly and work around their availability.
Respect the mission. These aren't corporate talking points: this is public service work. The tone needs to be genuine, not overly polished or marketing-heavy.
Show, don't just tell. Stats and policy explanations matter, but visual storytelling is what makes people care. That's why the thermal drone footage and real-world rescue stories were so impactful.
Community trust is built on transparency. Public sector organizations need video that feels authentic. Over-produced content can feel like propaganda. The goal is to inform and connect, not sell.
Strategy First: Why This Matters for Your Organization
Whether you're a nonprofit, a municipality, or a purpose-driven brand, your story deserves more than generic stock footage and bullet points. People connect with real faces, real voices, and real impact.
That's the Strategy First approach we bring to every project: whether we're the lead agency or the production partner. Video isn't just a deliverable. It's a tool for building trust, communicating complex ideas, and driving action.
If you're a larger agency looking for a reliable production partner in Texas, or if you're a nonprofit or public sector organization looking to tell your story with impact, let's talk. We'll handle the production. You handle the strategy. And together, we'll create something that actually moves people.
